Fundraising for Non-Profit Organizations

Fundraising Options for Non-Profits by Another Turn Used Books

Another Turn Used Books offers several fundraising options for non-profit organizations.

Another Turn Used Books offers three service options to assist you in your organization’s fundraising efforts. Not only do we specialize in books and textbooks, but we also emphasize the importance of educational toys and aids. Even if your items don’t exactly fit in this niche, we still have services to offer to help you reach your fundraising goals.

Our Physical Area of Service

We have several options for non-profit organizations. Some of these options do not apply to those organizations outside of our physical area of service. We’re located in Gilbertsville, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, and serve the surrounding area (contact us if you’re nearby and would like an appointment). Even if your organization is outside this area, we can still provide you with your own page in our online catalog and list your consigned items if you ship your items to us.

Fundraising Options

1. Basic Consignment

This option is for those organizations that already have a large supply of donated items on hand. Depending on condition, supply, and demand, it’s possible some of these items will take a while to sell, but the rewards will be there when they do. This option is available to all US-based non-profit organizations, even if the organization is outside our physical area of service.

2. Book Drives

This option gives your organization an up-front boost by hosting a book drive. Another Turn Used Books supplies collection boxes for your facility, while your organization spreads the word on your fundraising effort. Another Turn Used Books will give your organization a check based on the number of pounds collected. Not only do you collect up front, but when the items sell, you collect from those sales as well. Please note that this option is available to only those organizations that are physically in our area of service.

3. Buyouts

If consigning is not right for you, please consider our buyout program. Depending on the size of your collection, we either review each item or make an offer for the entire lot after a brief sampling while in your presence. You’ll receive a check on the spot, and then we’ll pack up and haul away the items. Please note that this option is available to only those organizations who are physically in our area of service. Contact us to schedule an appointment.

Consign Gently-Used Items

Our catalog specializes in the following:

  • Books
  • Textbooks
  • Educational Toys and Aids

A more detailed list for these and other items can be found in our Terms & Conditions and Contract documents (above). The most important aspect to keep in mind is that these items must be in gently-used condition, which increases both their value and chances for quick sale.

While in our care, your consigned items remain your property. Should you decide to have any items returned to you, we’ll make arrangements with you to return these items according to the terms of our service contract.

Create Your Own Online Sale

Sign-up is free. Once you open your Another Turn Used Books account by completing our consignment agreement, we’ll create your organization’s own page in our search-engine-optimized, online catalog. In this catalog, your items will be cross-categorized to make them visible to a wider audience who may wish to combine the purchase of your items with items from other consignors. We’ll work with you on an individual basis to determine if any of your consigned items would benefit from being listed in our eBay Seller Store as well.

Receive a Check When Items Sell

While your items are being sold, your organization will receive a monthly check for your percentage of the selling price. We’ll keep our percentage of the selling price as our commission for providing our services.

Our ultimate goal is that all three parties—you, the customer, and Another Turn Used Books—are satisfied with each transaction. If a customer decides to return an item, we’ll handle the details, while you’ll still collect from the original sale.

How Prices Are Set

Part of our service to you is taking the time to research and set the prices on your items so you don’t have to. The prices that we initially set for each item will be provided on your copy of the consignment contract that we’ll send to you once your collection has been processed. We’ll keep in contact with you concerning your items, so providing your phone and e-mail information is important.

If You’re an Individual Raising Money Independently

If you’re not an official representative of a non-profit organization, but have decided that you’d like to donate your portion directly to a non-profit organization and have that non-profit organization get a dedicated page in the catalog, you may specify such in the contract for individual consignors (see Consigning with Us for details). Instead of your check going directly to you, Another Turn Used Books will send it to your selected non-profit organization and will send a notification to you for your records.
