At the top of each two-page entry, there's a timeline that starts at 10,000 B.C. and ends at A.D. 2000, with the appropriate period for the entry highlighted by a red bar.
A "Ready Reference" at the end of the book puts the names of rulers (emperors, popes, kings, queens, czars, pharaohs, presidents, etc.) in context to their time periods.
