This is the story of Chester, a cricket who travels to Times Square from Connecticut. He ends up in the subway station and takes up residence in the Billinis' newsstand, where he makes some unlikely friends and somehow brings success to the newsstand.
This book won the Newbery Honor Award in 1961 and is a classic. It was adapted into an animated television movie in 1973.
