This is the story of Eva, a young girl who has moved from Philadelphia to a farm in Pennsylvania Dutch country. It tells of how she must learn new words and traditions to get acquainted with the new world around her. Most importantly it tells of her discovering Great Granny's old box of cookie cutters and how they help her learn of her heritage and adjust to her new community and make new friends.
Also in the book are stencils for making cookies and a recipe for "Great Granny's Gingerbread". There is also a short discussion of the origins of the Pennsylvania Dutch.
