GOOD: This book is in good condition, its cover, spine, and pages showing minimal wear, even for a book of this age (1972). The previous owner's name was written in pencil on the front end page and was erased, but there is still a faint hint of the writing. Otherwise, the pages appear to be free of marks and highlights.

From the Preface: "We feel that the book has three major uses: (1) as an undergraduate text in a one- or two-semester course on systems programming; (2) as a book for professionals; and (3) as a reference for graduate students."
The author, at the time, was the youngest tenured professor at M.I.T. He has written over 14 books on the subject of computers and business. His books were the standard at the time of their publication and this one is among the best. The basic practices are as applicable today as when written.
