To this must be added a willingness to believe in (or to study up on) the Lebesgue integral, as outlined in 1.1. A smattering of complex function theory and groups would be helpful, though what is needed is explained (with proofs) in 3.1 and 4.1, respectively. A little physics would be nice too. Feynman [1963-1965] would be the ideal, but an attempt has been made to sketch everything needed in that line.
