Product Details
This is the teacher's guide to the popular Italic Handwriting Series that is designed to make the transition from print to cursive natural and easy.
Designed for legibility and speed, the Italic Handwriting Series is based on the letterforms from Italy that spread throughout Europe and England.
There are seven student workbooks (A-F) that can be used separately, but all of the lettering guides (lined paper) are present in this book and may be copied as needed.
Although hesitant to put an exact age at which to start teaching handwriting, the authors suggest that their program may begin in Kindergarten with Book A, and then continue with Book B in the 1st Grade, Book C in the 2nd Grade, Book D in the 3rd Grade, Book E in the 4th Grade, Book F in the 5th grade, and Book G in the 6th-8th Grades and continuing into adulthood. The books can overlap grades or span several grades, depending on the progress of the student.
It's at the end of Book C that the student begins the transition of joining the letters to become cursive. The Lucida Sans School Italic font for computer printers matches this style of handwriting.
The major sections of the guide include:
- Teaching Italic
- Assessment
- Implementation
- Activities/Supplements
- Ruled Lines
