Condition
GOOD: The book's spine, covers, pages, and dust jacket are in good condition, showing very little sign of use or wear. This is an ex-library book. A small indication of its having been such is the white-out of a tracking number on the top of the copyright page. The white-out "bled" over to the facing page, but the pages are otherwise in good condition. There is some damage to the last end page where a book pocket was removed, taking very little of the paper, but leaving a "fuzzy" feel to the page.
Product Details
From the dust jacket: "The broken heart in your pew may be the woman sitting next to you who struggles with breast cancer. It may be the middle-aged man at the far end whose alcoholism has torn his family apart. The broken heart may be your own. One thing is certain: Behind every face is a story, and the story is not always pleasant. But God knows how to write our stories with redemptive ink, and he can heal our broken hearts. Ruth Graham has found through bitter personal experience that God does his great work in the ruins of our lives."In Every Pew Sits a Broken Heart is a deeply personal, honest exploration of how the truths of the Bible play out in the realities of our circumstances. The book is also a revelation of how a loving, faithful God embraces us in our pain and transforms even our failures into sources of unforeseen blessing.
"With simplicity and honesty, Ruth shares her journey through divorce, depression, and shame; her heartrending parental struggles; and her faltering attempts to make wise choices in the wake of bad ones. She brings sharp new insight from the Word of God for all who fear that their actions are unforgivable, or that their brokenness has made them useless to God.
"Drawing from the Scriptures, Ruth deals with such issues as breaking free from isolation, learning to forgive, cultivating stillness, and trading our masks for authenticity. She also offers helpful insights for those who want to lend support and hope to the hurting. She provides practical application through such features as "Reminders for Painful Times,' 'Tips for Those Who Care,' and 'Principles for Reflection.'"
