To clarify the author quote, this book is NOT about speech communication; it is about the theories and concepts of signal communication and how noise can be handled through such methods as filters within the electrical communications. The referenced examples are from 1968, so they tend to relate to that time period more than today's capabilities; however, the theories and equations are as applicable today as they were at the time of this book's writing. This makes this book an excellent reference book for the electrical communications student or engineer.
