The stories of The Call of the Wild and White Fang seem to be in opposition to each other. The first, The Call of the Wild, is the story of a dog, Buck, who through unfortunate circumstances is taken from civilization to the wilderness and evolves from being domesticated to return to his natural instincts. While the second, White Fang, is the story of a wolf cub who makes the journey from the wild to being a domesticated and loyal friend.
