Set in New England, Ethan Frome tells the tale of Ethan Frome, a man married to a sickly wife. He begins to have feelings, which he never openly expresses, for his wife's cousin who has come to help take care of the wife. When the wife realizes this she decides to send her cousin away. This leads to tragedy and reversal of roles which we won't reveal here.
