GOOD: The book, printed on heavy stock paper, shows a few signs of wear: slightly worn corners, a few small stains, and some discoloration. There is a small scar left where a label was placed on the back cover.
The antique, tanned appearance is intentional since this is a reproduction of a period publication.
Product Details
From the back cover: "CHRISTMAS DELIGHTS was originally published at the turn of the century by McLoughlin Bros. of New York City, one of the first publishers of children's books in the United States. The company was founded in 1827 and was the first American publisher to issue books with illustrations in color. This was accomplished by using stencils to hand color wood engravings.
"About 1890, McLoughlin Bros. installed one of the early complete lithographic plants in the United States. CHRISTMAS DELIGHTS, one of a group of books called the Mistletoe Series, was one of the first books published in this new lithographic plant.
"This edition of CHRISTMAS DELIGHTS is an exact reproduction of the original version. It was printed using modern lithograpic [sic] techniques; the paper is Antique Vellum and the type face is Egmont Roman."
