Library of Congress summary: “Describes the need of unification in a growing country and discusses the problems and decisions of the men who drafted the Constitution of the United States.” The book starts with the Declaration of Independence in 1776, discusses the Articles of Confederation in 1781, and then ends with the official adoption of the Constitution of the United States of America on June 21, 1788. The first ten amendments were ratified on December 15, 1791 and are called the Bill of Rights.

The book has illustrations and photographs throughout.
