Growing out of the study of solid materials developed from the application of multiple disciplines such as solid-state physics, metallurgy, and chemistry, Material Science cannot be categorized under a single, classical discipline. Popular material development fields include, but are not limited to, electronics, aerospace, telecommunications, information processing, nuclear power and energy conversion, ground transportation, and medicine.
