New “Shop by Subject” Indices Help You Find What You’re Looking For

New Navigation Menu Bar Aids in Faster Searches

We know how valuable the “Catalog Search” can be, but sometimes it returns lists that aren’t as focused as you might like. We’ve been working to change that with updates to the navigation menu bar that appears at the top of each of our website’s pages.

New Options on Menu Bar

Older Features Are Still Available

Our departments are still accessible from the menu under the “Shop by Department” option. If you click on this link, you’ll get the entire catalog, but if you use the drop-down menu, you can go directly to “Books,” “Textbooks,” “Educational Toys,” “Educational Aids,” “Music,” and “Videos.”

The “Shop by Grade” search options have been a feature of our catalog since it started, but now you have the ability to search for your target grades from every page of our website, even if you’re on the front page or reading a blog post or page.

New “Shop by Subject” Option Is Focused on School Subjects

Subject Index Snapshot

The new “Shop by Subject” option is meant to aid parents and teachers in searching for topical material defined by typical school subjects. Each graphical representation in an index (we currently have three indices: Subject Index, History Subject Index, and Military History Index) leads to a dedicated subject page, which is great for bookmarking so that you can check on new arrivals regularly. If you want a page dedicated to a subject that’s not yet featured, please let us know.

Because the subject indices are focused on school subjects, you might not see what you’re looking for while casually browsing. You can still use the search box on these occasions.

Cosmetic Changes Give the Catalog a New Look

We’ve also updated the look of the catalog pages while we were building the new subject indices. Here’s a quick tour:

Cosmetic Changes to Our Store - Indicated by the Arrows

A: New Breadcrumbs – The breadcrumb line (so called after Hansel and Gretel’s leaving bread crumbs to mark their trail) is the result of consolidating the two breadcrumbs that were previously there (one for the blog and pages and another for the catalog).

B: Views and Pages – The Pages in the “Views and Pages” section have been given more space and some color-coded borders to let you see more easily which page you’re currently on.

C: Page Titles – The page titles are larger and are accompanied by colorful icons. Surf the store and you’ll see different icons for where you’re at and what you’re doing.

We hope these improvements will help you find what you’re looking for quicker and easier!
