Condition
GOOD: Both books are in very good condition, showing minimal signs of wear on the covers, binding, and pages. The manual has some writing and highlighting, limited to Lessons One and Two, but these markings do not obscure the text. The Student Activity Book’s back cover has some discoloration, but it has clean pages with no writing and can be used immediately as a consumable workbook.
Product Details
This set includes the teacher’s manual for Learning Language Arts through Literature (LLATL) Tan (4th through 6th Grade Skills) and the consumable Student Activity Book. LLATL is a Christian curriculum.
LLATL uses the whole language or integrated language approach by teaching grammar, vocabulary, writing mechanics, reading, spelling, penmanship, and thinking skills through dictation lessons.
There are 30 lessons in this book, accompanied by a skills index in the back that lists which lesson addresses a particular skill in the areas of creative writing, comprehension, grammar, oral skills, and study skills.
Each lesson includes a literature passage, daily learning activities, and teacher helps (answers). The authors also provide suggestions on multi-level teaching, such as having a variety of ages in the home school environment.
The manual includes a list of basic school supplies, as well as a bibliography of all of the sources used in the dictation passages. Additionally, resources to help the teacher understand the whole language approach, pioneered by Dr. Ruth Beechick, are recommended.
